Why Storytelling Should Matter To Filmmakers

Here is the story of Mark Teskey from Patrick Moreau and the team at StillMotion. Mark shares how going through the MUSE program significantly improved his ability in storytelling.

Shane has said many times that story is king. In other words, every decision for filmmakers is based on the story. It is so important to have a deep and complex knowledge of storytelling whether you are a cinematographer, videographer, independent filmmaker, documentary shooter, director, writer or editor. I hear many conversations about gear and lively discussions about what to purchase. It is time to broaden the discussion beyond tools to do the job and take a deep dive into storytelling. Filmmaking is both an art and a science. The art involves character analysis and motivation, lighting choices, camera movement and placement to tell the best story possible. It so much more than just gear.

Only Three Days Left to Claim Your Spot in the MUSE Pilot Program

On Monday, Freddie on our HV Team told you about MUSE, a reliable, repeatable, game changing program for bringing your stories to life as a filmmaker. It is a revolutionary process to help you tell stronger and more intentional stories in eight proven steps (with a full refund guarantee by the Emmy Award winning StillMotion team). MUSE takes you through the steps of story and character generation one element at a time utilizing many different methods, including video, printable worksheets, research exercises and personal consulting. The case studies in this pilot program apply directly to corporate, documentary and wedding filmmakers most directly but narrative storytellers will also appreciate the examples from the feature film Still Alice.

We are reminding you about this today, since there are only three days left until the deadline — midnight on June 7th PDT to get in on the Pilot Program for $497.00. MUSE will then be released in the following months in smaller bundles with everything else available as an additional purchase.

Early adopters, who have purchased MUSE, then have the opportunity to craft a moving story and might be chosen as the winners of an all-expense paid trip to Uganda with the StillMotion team. All video submissions for this contest are due by June 30th at 11:59PM PDT. The three winners will join StillMotion in bringing an important story to life — Project: One Girl Uganda. Educating a girl has a “multiplier effect.” When you educate a girl, you educate a nation, and this is a chance to make a difference and travel to Uganda to raise awareness and funds.

We hope you will take a look at this unique program and process. Get new tools to unlock your storytelling with MUSE for one-quarter of the regular price, but only until Sunday, June 7. We’ve had some Shane’s Inner Circle members who have already tried it out and love it. Truly and deeply understand story structure, characters and how to move your audience.
