K-Stacker II – Matthews Studio’s Kino Solution!
If you’re an Inner Circle Member, then you know how much I love the Kino Flo Selects. They’ve got abilities that rival ARRI’s Skypanels at a fraction of the size and weight. I actually take them with me on all of my jobs because these lights are just so damn versatile. Beautiful soft light from RGB LED’s that let you dial in any color of the rainbow you want inside of small, lightweight, but powerful fixtures you can place just about anywhere. They are a must-have for anyone’s light kit, you’ve really gotta see how these babies stack up in my Light Kit Essentials Series. And now, those Kino Flo Selects have gotten even more versatile thanks to my friends over at Matthews Studio Equipment. Let me introduce you to the K-Stacker II:
My favorite configuration of the System
The K-Stacker II allows you to mount up to three Kino Flo FreeStyle 31 LED Panels or two Kino Flo 4ft/4Banks in a tight array, helping you to create a single softlight source with ease. You can mount the lights vertically on a stand or downward like a space light on a studio grid. The Kino Select’s controllers or Kino 4Bank ballasts can mount right on the stand, and if you wanted to power the LED Selects off of 24VDC battery power like the Blueshape’s Rugged Power Station, you can go ahead and mount that right on the K-Stacker II as well.
You can get really mobile with this thing
What else I really love is that the Matthews K-Stacker II was originally conceived by Canadian-based gaffer Alex Amyot. This tells me that Matthews is listening to the filmmaking community and dedicated to bringing our visions to life. That’s the sign of a true innovator.
