Rosco and ShotDeck Release All-New Rosco Color Feature
There are few companies that are as foundational to the film industry as Rosco. The global leader in color and lighting solutions has partnered with the world’s largest database of cinematic lenses in ShotDeck. Combined they connect together two of the most significant pieces in the visual design format: video licensing and color integration. What this creates is an all-new color tool in the Rosco Color Feature that’s certain to empower filmmakers.
That’s why the report of the newly inked agreement between ShotDeck and Rosco is exciting news for filmmakers everywhere!
According to the press release, the new licensing agreement “will enable the integration of Rosco gel color references into the ShotDeck library.”
Lawrence Sher, ASC, who lensed Joker, Garden State, and The Hangover, is also the founder of ShotDeck. Sher voiced his excitement about the partnership, saying:
“By seamlessly integrating these iconic colors like R02 Bastard Amber™ and R29 Skelton Exotic Sangria™ into ShotDeck’s vast library of film images, we are providing filmmakers with another resource and layer of information that will fuel their creativity and enhance their storytelling.”
ROSCO COLOR FEATURE
You might be wondering how exactly the Rosco Color Feature impacts a filmmaker’s work. Well, Rosco’s legendary color language is now part of the ShotDeck platform. (If you haven’t checked it out yet, see what everyone’s talking about!)
Every filmmaker knows that the best feature of any video licensing platform outside of the content itself is its search function. And we know with over 645,000 shots from iconic films, television series, and music videos, ShotDeck has the goods when it comes to content.
Now, Rosco’s new color feature adds a whole other layer of search specificity to make our lives easier when it comes to sifting through droves of content.
What’s this mean?
Whether you’re searching for shots to license or to reference for an upcoming project, the convenient new Rosco Color Feature is going to make the lives of directors and cinematographers a little easier.
Now, filmmakers can “identify specific Rosco color references found within shots,” per the press release. The Rosco Color Feature is one tool in addition to other ways to filter, such as by composition, sets, lighting, and camera angles.
Once again, ShotDeck has revolutionized the way filmmakers find and reference visual inspiration by curating an extensive library of film images from a diverse range of genres. By joining forces, Rosco and ShotDeck bring a new level of inspiration to creators of visual content.
“We are thrilled to partner with ShotDeck to offer filmmakers a unique blend of technology and colorful inspiration,” said Mark Engel, CEO of Rosco. “By adding Rosco’s color references to ShotDeck’s extensive visual reference platform, we are offering filmmakers another way to elevate their storytelling capabilities and unlock their full creative potential.”
