RED’s V-RAPTOR is now available and the world of cinematography will never be the same. Filmmakers everywhere can finally sink their teeth into RED Digital Cinema’s new flagship camera system – the RED DSMC3 V-RAPTOR 8K VV. Cinematographer Shane Hurlbut, ASC joins RED on Friday, April 28, at 2:00 PM to showcase the V-RAPTOR for a live stream audience via Filmmakers Academy.

THE V-RAPTOR CAMERA SYSTEM
The V-RAPTOR is the first entry in the DSMC3 generation of cameras. As the most advanced RED camera ever, it wields an all-new multi-format 8K + 6K S35 sensor. It can capture up to 120 frames per second (FPS) at 8K 17:9 (8192 x 4320 pixels). When the resolution is dropped down to 2K 2.4:1 (2048 x 864 pixels), it captures up to 600 FPS.

The V-RAPTOR is able to record the 16-bit REDCODE RAW codec and data is compatible with CFexpress media cards at up to 800MB/s.
The camera’s ports include two 4K 12G-SDI outputs along with an XLR audio interface. In addition, it can be powered by V-Lock batteries that work synchronically with its V-Lock battery interface. However, you can also power the V-RAPTOR with other sources from its 11 – 17V 6-pin DC-IN connection.
Wireless connectivity is also made possible with the V-RAPTOR which is capable of transmitting a 1080p live preview video over 2.4Ghz/5Ghz Wi-Fi. The camera operator can utilize its integrated 2.4” LCD display to access the menu and navigate settings and connections.
